The Proposal

The proposed Drumnahough Wind Farm is located in County Donegal, to the south-west of Letterkenny and north-west of Ballybofey. It is proposed that the wind farm will consist of 12 No. turbines. The proposed wind farm will have a maximum export capacity of circa 60 MW.

Opportunities at the site have previously been extensively explored by SSE Renewables & Coillte CGA, with a planning consent previously secured at the site in 2009. This consent has now expired, with the project not being able to be built-out to date due to issues in securing a grid connection.

SSE Renewables and Coillte CGA are now proposing to submit a new planning application for Drumnahough Wind Farm with a revised site layout. This application will include fewer turbines and an updated turbine envelope that reflect changes in the market environment and wind farm technology over the last decade.
